About the Project
In this project I created a new online second-hand media company similar to competitors like Thriftbooks and World of Books. I collected extensive research into the field of online second-hand goods market, in order to understand all the pieces involved with the issue, and all the ways the current business model could be improved. Through thorough research I developed a corporate identity and brand strategy for Renew, then visually expressed those values in a comprehensive brand-identity system.
Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign
Key Ideas: Community Focus, Circular Economy, Comprehensive Identity System

Logo Components
After MANY rounds of adjustment, I arrived at a core logo-mark, as well as the brand's primary color palette and 'work-horse' typeface, which will be used to identify Renew anywhere they appear.
After MANY rounds of adjustment, I arrived at a core logo-mark, as well as the brand's primary color palette and 'work-horse' typeface, which will be used to identify Renew anywhere they appear.
Every aspect of each visual component above is loaded with symbolism in reference to the company's core values. Though writing out every decision made would take too long, a few of the symbols include the following. The relationship between the 'front' circle and 'back' in the logo symbol represent the orbit of the sun and the moon to demonstrate Renew's 'day and night' passion for all they do. There is further a 'ripple' affect within the front circle to show Renew's outward influence into the community. And, the forms of a disk (reminiscent of DVDs and CDs which Renew sells) and a book are contained within the symbol as a reference to the actual business they are in.

Standards Manual
Once the identity system was solidified, I created a comprehensive standards manual— describing exactly how each element of the system can be used, and how additional assets in the future should be made to maintain brand recognition.
The below are a few sample spreads. You can view the full manual through the link below

This is part one of a two part project.
